  • I Have the worst luck when defending my man

When im defending,Everytime i dont jump (because i think its a pump fake) they shoot right in my face(facial) and it always splashes,Everytime i DO jump however because i think they're gonna shoot,They dont, they pump fake, move to the 3pt line and boom, splash. What really annoys me is that it happens EVERYTIME,it didnt happen like 3 times in a row in the same match or anything,it ALWAYS happens and i cant do anything about it

I've been playing since 2015 and i've only gotten worse the more i've played,Is there anyway i can improve?Cause i dont think its possible. If any of you have a method,Feel free to share,If you want to call me shit,Also go ahead.

Also dont mention the "commentator".Im half deaf i cant hear the commentator properly so i wont know when they fake or not.

I'll give you a tip. Never jump on the first pump. If a character pumps the first time they can only pump 2 times per possession. After that they would have to pass again and then receive the ball for further pumps

Here's the thing,When i dont jump they always shoot in my face and it always goes in no matter what, when i do jump its always a fake, its been the same for the past week and no matter what i try it always happens.

For instance one time the enemy wins the tip off, passes to the sf behind the 3pt line,i dont jump,he shoots the ball when im guarding,splash,2nd possession, they get the ball again, just casually walks to the 3pt line, shoots again in my face,splash.3rd time im like "okay he's gonna shoot so im gonna jump" he pump fakes, i jump,he goes to the 3pt line, splash, then again im like "Okay he's gonna fake again" he shoots in my face, splash again, next possession i get pump faked,And the story goes on

Sometimes that happens. On the first pump I always try and steal it. At least you contested it.

(Normally if you steal and they shoot at same time. The glitch will happen where ball freezes but the shooter can still shoot.)

          nothing great is accomplished alone.

if you watch replay of why project away lost in tournament, velocity jumped for many pumpfakes, but most of the time they had someone ready to help when they did.

here's an idea if you're not on mic: press f1 (mark), when you're going to jump, and f3 (ill stop it when you want no help and not gonna jump till late contest)

communication is the key to defense.

                  Its called reading fakes.

You can react to shooters by paying attention to the beginning their shooting animation by focusing in on a certain part of their body, personally I used to look at the heel of the foot. If you notice, when a shooter pump fakes, the heel of their feet never leaves the ground. However, when a player shoots, they jump into the air and their feet leave the ground. Therefore, you should jump as soon as you see the heel of the foot leave the ground.

It takes positioning (this is the part a lot of people get wrong) and great reaction time, but it is possible to react and block shooters (even easier the more block and manual block range you have). In the worst case scenario, you will be contesting every shot, and not falling for fakes.

It is not about luck, its about reacting.

Here is the answer to your problem.
#1. Study your opponent. Watch his fakes and shots. Never jump until you see the pattern.
#2. If u are playing a fake and mover just stay on him hard face to face and always steal. You cant guarentee he will shoot but u know he will fake so steal everytime if you're not sure.
#3. Build your tussle, use your aura. He will not splash every shot in your face. Align yourself with a good big to catch his misses. A lot of times even if u block u wont recover.
                    Hope this is helpful

yea I had alot of trouble on positioning, So i started training it in Tutorial mode's Block jump shot training. Now my positioning has been getting better and I have been getting some really nice blocks at the perimeter as a PG.

When blocking jump shots, you have to realize, that you need to be between the scorer and the basket. so lets say the scorer is diagonally away from the basket, and I am above him and not diagonally to him. In this situation, to position myself correctly, I would have to run down (not diagonally, that will ruin my block) to get this block. it sounds weird at first, but it seems work for me in the tutorial mode.

EDIT: Mark training tutotial is actually better for training jump shot block positioning, because the AI shoots automatically when you are not on him, making you force positioning.

^^^ This is THE ADVICE to get better in blocking Sir. I personally would not jump for who knows how many times you tap that shoot button unless I see your feet leave the ground.

A good way is to look at the shooters feet. This is what I do when I defend any opponent really. When the feet go in the air you know that you should be jumping to contest/block the shot. This is how I defend people and it works a lot as pumpfakes require the motion of the arms moving up, while feet means that they are actually shooting and there will be no fake coming from that (except for that of a DG with the jump shot pass, which I use a lot). Hope this comment helped!

                              talk to a girl please.

also if all you guys just look at feet, you gonna face shot by a high 3pt success SG. I think that's a part of it, but nothing great is accomplished alone.
