  • Dash Essentials. PLZ READ BEFORE YOU DASH.

each dasher must posses these skills:

    nonstop pass
    direct pass

    helpful: v cut

you ask, hey, I'm dashing, I'll get 3's ez, why i need passing???

Because the PF HELPS ON the dash that's why. Now pass to ur pf for wide dunk.
Why do you need direct pass? Because when you dash to the middle, you are close to both of ur teammates and need to make sure the pass goes to pf.

Your opinion would be extremely wrong.

Why do you need direct pass? Because when you dash to the middle, you are close to both of ur teammates and need to make sure the pass goes to pf. You have a lot of inputs to worry about, don't have time to think about pass so you get nonstop.

        Edited on main post.

Not if you have a good enough pg to actually know WHERE to pass from. If you have the pg that actually knows when to layup/Veeee Deeeee to the post and distract your big then i dont really see the point. If you have a pg that doesnt attack hoop and wait on the other side (which is what i used to do) then yea maybe you would need to create mis match. If you have that pg that looks at the big watching him to see IF he helps then the pg can take the wide layup then. Thats the smartest way to run dash imo.

then you're wasting half your dashes ^. If you're going to pass up every pf wide dunk there's a reason you're unsuccessful.

what if the person guarding the pg helps on sg, again nonstop is helpful.

You are going to miss a lot of opportunities that way, especially if the PG has a good defender on them.

I swap the skills for dash against diffrent types of team, but I never use direct pass. That is waste of slot if u play dash

Thing is what i feel about some ppl is that they wanna teach someone somethign but they dont even fully understand it. Direct pass is not needed at all for sg bcs:
                      1. Good PG wont even pass to you if he sees that u gonna get covered
                      2. When you dash your pf is always closer to you since he gave you screen for dash
                      3. Many ppl dash and then they say "omg noob pg he didn't pass", but they didn't even look if pg is in position to pass when they dashed
                      4. Many bigs doesn't place a screen in the good place so even if u make a good dash you won't reach 3pt area in time (you'll get caught)
                      5,6,7 etc etc etc.
Too lazy to write more stuff now but thing is you guys mostly think that dash is screen - dash - pg pass to scorer - scorer score 3 (or pass back when covered) and that's all? x.x

I don't use Direct pass either. I think it's optional for sgs.

I can see now why you all keep missing your non- stops to your bigs AND PGs, almost all SGs miss the non-stop to their open PGs... Direct is needed because it allows you to pass quickly (non-stop is often the diffrence bewteen an open shot and a contested shot) and not mess up even when your intended target is bumped or not finished with the screening animation (in these situations S pass would pass to the wrong person)..its funny because their are really no good dashers right now besides PA, but even he misses the majority of his non stops. PA is not a great passer in general, which is why his APG is low. PA does have the benifet of playing with the best dash play PG, great ping, and a crazy sp5 deck, which allows him to win even when messing up his passes, but I cannot say the same about the rest of you...

Yeah. U r partially right, but Controlling pass direction without direct pass is the basic skill for shooter. Dasher needs skills for both offense and defense. That's why Dasher is always suffered by lack of slots. Let me make clear about some stuffs. First, u r talking about my stats. My SPG is 20.34pt with 2400 games, and APG is above 2.0 without direct pass. I have benefit of my sp 5, but I always maintain average 20 SPG and 2 APG during seasons regardless God sp 5 or Trash Sp 5. Second, Charles... u have better ping than me (10ms right? I have 35ms). Thrid, Assists is playing with me cuz I am dasher who can make space for teammates, 3pt shots by dash and tactics, and order for team tactics in SG's vision. For that reason, he can focus on more defensive role, holding the balls, making orders in PG's vision for team play. We r specialized for each roles to play dash properly. That's why we r teammates. Basically, U and I r the same. I score more than u, and win the game. U pass more than me, and win the game. U r better passer than me, but I am better dasher than u. That is difference of styles between U and me.

PS : um. tbh, Skill sets r totally depended on individual. Uguys don't need to follow someone's skill sets. However, U need to change the skill sets against different types of team like Iso, 2PFs, Dash and Pillar.

                            In my case

Fixed skills : Away screen dash, sp 3pt, sp mid, long range, back roll turn, sp drive, manual lay up, v-cut, Intercept, diving catch, quick jumper, kill pass, non stop pass, Pick and move (If I am with fixed team)

I swap the skills between SP intercept and Quick change by the cases.
