  • Competes Guide To Power PG

Whats up Freestyle! My name is Compete, or people say DJ. I will be going over the most underrated class of PG ever. The power type.

The power type has the highest based pass in the game. What they also excel in is block, tussle, and short dunk. There are some things you have to give up though. You will have less speed, stamina, Long Layup, and 3pt shot if you are a power type of pg. That might seem kind of crap, but power pgs has the best defense against SG/SF because of more block attribute.
(Just make sure you jump ^_^)

Why Should You Be A Power PG?

The power PG Class is very underrated. Wouldn't it feel good to tell a SG/SF NO! No shooting on me! Once you figure out your blocking range on whatever PG you may use, You can send that weak shot back to the sender. I feel as if shrewd is overrated mainly because the offensive stats it gives. If you want to stay a offensive PG then by all means stay shrewd. If you want to be a Defensive PG, If you want to rack up assists, If you want to tell the scorers No shooting on me, Then power is the type for you.

Also if you are a Fan of VD. You can still do it with a power pg. You will just have a little less range. If you dont want to change types because you 3pt change will go down. Solution is SP 3pt. So really, The only thing you will give up is a little less speed and stam. Pros would absolutely want a defensive oriented PG than a offensive one.

I RECOMMEND ONLY CHANGING IF YOU HAVE SOME TRUE KNOWLEDGE ABOUT PG ALREADY BEFORE PURSUING A DIFFERENT TYPE OF PLAY

Competes Skill Build For Power PG

These are my attributes that i recommend you run for power pg

Steal - This is crucial. ALWAYS MAIN STEAL AS THE MAIN ATTRIBUTE! Upgrading steal Will result is more success of a steal happening. Steal is the most deadly weapon on a pg. Just like how blocking is a deadly weapon on a C/PF or scoring stats on a SF/SG. Main your steal attribute with at least three bars.

Block - Increases your range of how far you can be when attempting a block. Correct me if I'm wrong although I'm positive I'm right but the less block range you have, the closer you need to be to block while more block range you can be a little farther, Take this note also when blocking. Always chase the spot in front of them, (the mark indicator) Instead of your mark. make sure you're within that area to defend any jump shot. I ran three bars for it and basic block pants. Also have some cards that was able to push me up to 130 block.

Speed - well. Increases your speed of course. Being a power will of course make you run slower. One Con of becoming a power.

Stamina - Yes, you will have less stamina. I put two bars in it and it doesn't really feel as if i had a difference in stamina when i was a shrewd type. Just know now you need to manage your stamina wisely now if you were to switch types.

3 Pt - I just put one bar because when i play, i will only be taking the WIDE threes that are given.

      Competes Skills!

So these are the skills that i think a power pg should use. Its not that different from a shrewd base PG or a Balanced.

Direct pass - Basic skill that honestly every position should have,

Quick Jumper - Useful when Wide open and your release time will be much quicker. Run this at all times

Jump pass - Used to shake the paint up. Confuse the other team and possibly get your Big to dunk on a mismatch.

Intercept - To intercept the ball when you are between the passer and the receiver. press "A" Before the pass and if they pass, you will get a intercept.

Manual layup - Skill that changes the direction you want to layup. Better than not having it and you layup straight to the goal wish is a 100% block when the opposing big who knows what he is doing.

Kill pass - When you are being guarded heavily, A icon will appear over one of your teammates head. The icon says kill pass and when you pass to them, its a fast pass and you have a unique animation with the pass.

Overpass Intercept - Easier to get than regular intercepts. You just have to look at the passer and when he throws it over there head (not a chest pass) You just have to press A when the ball is headed to your mark.

Baseball pass - Since Power has the highest based pass, The baseball meter will have more green in it and will help when you are baseball passing. Use this if you see a wide open man and you dont want to use overpass because the mark can catch up to them. Baseball pass is a clutch skill to avoid intercept too. A must have for pgs. Here is a example of what the baseball meter looks like.

Pass fake/VD - A skill used if you want to pursue VD offense. This skill good for iso or when you are running dash and need to take the layup when its clear paint. I wouldnt call it a must have, but its a good skill.

      Passive skills you need

SP 3pt. - Make your 3 pt have a higher success of going in. you will need it on no matter what play you are running. you never know when you will need to shoot open.

SP Intercept - Makes the range of the intercept and success rate higher.

SP Diving catch - Makes your dive range longer for when you are diving.

SP Steal - Increases swipe speed and range of steal.

IM NOT DONE WITH THE GUIDE YET! ITS JUST WORK IN PROGRESS. Tell me anything that i missed and i will make my best attempt to do so.

Good guide! Great for new players. Don't agree with investing into pass though, pretty useless stat.

Hmm. Ill let you be entitled to your opinion, but pass stat
          Increases your jump pass range
The success of hitting the green when baseball passing
Dive catch and pass range (so the pass doesnt go flying)
Anything that has something to do with pass it relies on pass attribute.

ALSO, It help when your team is doing dash play. The more pass stat you have, the more range you have within throwing that pass without it being overhead.

And while this guide can be for new people, It also serves as a guide for people that want to try a different play

Thats also a good skill to have as well. You just need to think like what will you replace? SP 3PT? Double clutch? Its like a process of elimination lol

Since playing the golden ball mode the pass really doesn't matter imo. It does make a difference but I don't think its worth. I also wanted to know if you tried other builds like adding points into tussle since tussle reduces opponents shots? Have jump pass and quick jumper added as optional skills to take. Nice guide.

You already have skills in place to combat situations where you would normally over head pass. Kill pass and baseball pass are skills designed to ensure a non-over head pass, use them instead of adding to pass stat.

Baseball is not that hard to the point where you need to make it easier. With some practice, you should be able to baseball successfully without any pass added.

As for jump pass (a skill I do not like because it is easily intercepted and a TO risk) You can control who you are passing to with jump pass, so it's up to you to not pass to somebody too far away.

You already get SP pass as a PG, the extra pass stats are already embedded into the position. The difference of a few points in pass will not noticeable enough for it to be worth it.

Those stats should be added to 3pt, what you have there is far too low. PGs need to be a threat as a 3pt shooter in a successful offense.

And lastly if you are passing to dash or if you are spreading the floor for an ISO player, YOU NEED QUICK JUMPER, tired of playing with PGs who do not use it.

I don't want to make it sound like your guide was poorly made, I just disagree on a few points. This should serve as a decent template for new PGs.

Now that i understand where you are coming from, ill have to agree with that. I forgot that you have to SP Pass as a pg.

Baseball pass had a smaller indicator when there was a little less pass stat.

Im not a fan of jump pass either.

So all in all, If you choose not to upgrade pass stat then it should go into 3pt.

Lastly what should i replace for quick Jumper then?
