To put it into perspective, guys like Rick Ross and Wale sold like 160K with songs like "Bad" as a single to push. Loads of singles while a guy like J. Cole makes conscious music that isn't necessarily going to appeal to the radio audience, but it goes to show you it's more than that. When you have a dedicated fan base that you shared pieces of your life to through mixtapes, you grow this loyal following and you can stand the test of time instead of just having 1 hit and sell 40K (French Montana)
Drake did less than 700K with his NWTS album with a fucking stacked playlist and it's Drake....
J. Cole did near 400K!!!!!!!! Bet yall dont even know who he is (Vuj) or even know he had an album out....... He fucking winning!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Cats like Felix and i been day 1 fans unlike that nigga Nostra who only bumped him when Fabolous was added onto the Roc Nation roster.
Can't hate though cuz even tho he late, he still came to the party. Its just so refreshing to see rappers like Cole winning because though i am human and i enjoy the party songs out nowadays, it's fucking cancerous and has no fucking substance. Its the same formula over and over and the same fucking Mustard Beat...... Best of both worlds i guess, to each their own!
