Some people do not have quick enough reaction times to quickly input and react to certain events. This game in particular does not have enough command keys for this to be as important, but for other games, such as League of Legends, the input of a combo perfectly timed could win a game.

Another game that macros could hurt is NBA 2K17. If you perfectly time the release of a jump shot, you will make it 100%. This could mean people with a horrible attributes could just drain shots because of a macro's perfect time. Another person who is a pro could have spent hours trying to perfect their muscle memory and timing for a jump shot, only to get cheated by a macro user.

So, in this game, macros are not groundbreaking, because it does not have enough situations where it would be useful, but the idea of using macros in general for games is basically cheating. A couple of examples you could say it is harmful is for post quick change, vd, and the ability to use guaranteed good looking combos in an isolation setting for manual dunks/layups.

Pefect floater release comes to mind as game changing.

Also, you can say baseball timing is easy for the veteran players, but I can think of plenty of tournament games that were drastically impacted by missed baseball passes.

In general, so many tournament games are decided by 1-2 possesions, so these little advantages are quite huge.
