Forward:
Target man
- Strong header. Capable of scoring in even the most complicated situations.

- Less suited for penetration and better at winning the ball in air.

- Helpful when competing for lobbed balls.

- Capable of scoring in the most difficult or complicated dispositions.
- Strong dribble penetration.
Poacher
- Seizes excellent opportunities when all defence has been left behind.
- Great at direct-pass play.
- Good at zonal penetration and keeping up with the ball. But not so great at winning the
ball in air.
- Quick-footed and thus useful in defence.
Midfield:
Box to Box
- Provides direct passes that quickly connect to offence. Good connection with team mates
through 2:1 passes.
- Hard worker, good at zonal marking.
- Great stamina allows for quick recovery to defence.
Playmaker
- Good positioning and tactical passes to open up opportunities.
- Good ball control and zonal passes.
- Good at moving to the right positions, not so much moving often.
- Not very robust when it comes to defensive support.
Dribbler
- Good at dribbling past opponent defence and making a cross play after penetration.
- Quick-footed and thus useful in defence.
Defence:
Stopper
- Strong header, good offensive support.
- Capable of post-play against power-type defenders; good connection from lob passes.
- Good at winning the ball in the air, secures and advantageous position.
- Best when stably grounded. Powerful man-to-man. Slower and thus not best at dealing
with sudden changes.
- Provides powerful tackles when executing from a stable position. Great at winning the ball
in air.
Sweeper
- Quick-footed and good at receiving the ball at a advantageous position.
- Good at quickly chasing down opponents and marking zones. Also useful for cooperative
defence.
- Fair chance of tackling successfully even from a less stable position.
Libero
- Very active, quickly moving to a better spot to receive the ball.
- Adept at closely following the offensive ball and quickly getting back on track even after
failing a tackle.
